Coastal Day Trip – Whitstable

Coastal Day Trip – Whitstable

For a change of scenery this month, why not visit Whitstable? Here are three things to see and do at this boho, laid-back fishing town on the Kent coast…

Discover the mix of quality shops
Head to Harbour Street to see its plethora of pretty shop fronts which sell quality items, from boutiques, art galleries and gift shops, to delicatessens, butchers and bakers which trade side by side – all of which have established Whitstable as one of the best places to find one-of-a-kind items.

Unwind by the beach and harbour
Take a stroll by Whitstable’s working harbour or enjoy the unspoilt coastline.

The harbour, built in 1832, is still a working port with a fascinating history, and the shingle beach is traditionally English, lined by brightly coloured fishermen huts.

Visit one of its independent restaurants
Whitstable is famed for its oysters, so perhaps visit an independent seafood restaurant. Or if a day trip to the seaside isn’t complete without fish and chips or you want to try an independent restaurant, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Stewarts Tours have a day trip to Whitstable on Sunday 17th September 2017. Please click here for more information or to make a booking.

The “Loveliest Castle in the World’!

The “Loveliest Castle in the World’!

Leeds Castle is reputed to be one of the most romantic and historic buildings in the land and next month we’re visiting the stunning castle for the ever-popular Festival of Flowers event, where you can discover why it’s not called the “loveliest castle in the world” for nothing!

Located in Kent, the castle has sat majestically for over 900 years in vast grounds. Over the years it has been the private property of six of England’s medieval queens and the residence of Henry VIII for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, a Jacobean country house, a Georgian mansion, and a 20th century retreat for the famous. Surrounded by 500 acres of beautiful parklands, the large cottage gardens are a delight with very English features, from Roses, Lupins and Poppies.

For the ever-popular Festival of Flowers event, where this year’s theme is Enchanted Castle, international and award-winning florists and floral designers will transform the rooms into works of art. See demonstrations, hear talks, and get involved in the workshops that will be on offer on the day.

Stewarts Tours have a day trip to Festival of Flowers at Leeds Castle on Monday 25th September 2017. Please click here for more information or to make a booking.
