Why to visit Monkey World

Why to visit Monkey World

In a few weeks, we’re visiting the internationally acclaimed Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset where there’s no better place to get close to over 250 rescued and endangered apes and monkeys – here’s why you should pay a visit…

It is the largest rescue centre of its kind in the world
Set amongst the woodland lies 65 acres of sanctuary for more than 250 primates of over 20 different species. These include the largest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa, and Europe’s only Orang-utan Creche.

Many have been saved from abuse, neglect, laboratories, as exotic pets or the entertainment industry, and today the Centre works with foreign governments to prevent illegal smuggling from Africa and Asia and provide them with natural surroundings.

It’s home to the stars of TV’s ‘Monkey Life’
Monkey Life has had unparalleled access to the Rescue Centre, following the daily lives and dramas of these fascinating creatures since 2006.

Other TV shows featuring the sanctuary include BBC’s Animal Hospital and Sky TV’s feature highlighting a rescue operation in Turkey of smuggled chimpanzees.

For a fascinating day out for all the family
There’s something for young and old and the knowledgeable staff are some of the most experienced in primate rehabilitation; they are passionate about the welfare of the primates.  The sanctuary is also home to woodland parks and a café.

Stewarts Tours have a day trip to Monkey World on Sunday 13th August 2017. Please click here for more information or to make a booking.

Day Trip to Buckingham Palace

Day Trip to Buckingham Palace

This week Buckingham Palace will open once again for its hugely popular annual Summer Opening. The iconic symbol of the British Monarchy has served as one of several Royal residences around the country since 1837, when Queen Victoria first took up residence. Today thousands visit from all over the globe each year – why not have a day to remember and see the splendour for yourself?

Visitors are able to tour the 19 magnificent State Rooms that form the heart of the working palace and are used regularly by the Royal Family for official entertaining and State Functions. As part of the visit there is the special exhibition ‘Royal Gifts’, telling the story of the Queen’s reign through a wide-ranging display of official gifts presented to Her Majesty during the past 65 years.

As a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, her work undertaking many official duties in support of The Queen is remembered through a special display in the Music Room – one of the State Rooms open to the public as part of the Summer Opening. The centrepiece of the display is the desk where The Princess worked in her sitting room at Kensington Palace, writing letters, and reading official briefings and correspondence. Many of the objects shown on and around her desk have been selected by The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry to reflect their mother's commitment to duty and their personal memories of her.

Combine a visit with a Sightseeing Lunch Cruise. Our day trip includes a 75 minute sightseeing cruise with a two-course lunch served on board on Saturday 9th September 2017.
