Arguably best known for The Beatles and their unique legacy, which can be seen all over the city, let’s come together and enjoy an amazing weekend of fun information and facts, about the Fab Four, who stole the UK’s hearts. Enjoy a fabulous weekend with Neil McDonald; our extremely knowledgeable guide. Visit places such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Field, established on a popular tourist trail which attracts thousands of fans from around the world. There will be time to enjoy Liverpool, a centre of maritime, cultural and sporting excellence. Its unrivalled architecture and heritage, including its world-famous waterfront; itself named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is complimented by more listed buildings and monuments than any other UK city outside London. Such a status, reinforces the city’s reputation as a place of true aesthetic excellence and with our selected hotel being in the centre of it all, your free time may be used to marvel at the spectacular waterfront area, explore the variety of museums and art galleries, or indulge in the fantastic high street stores.
Day 1 Departure: 0830-1000 hrs. Travel to Liverpool, making a lunch stop en-route (lunch not included). Hotel check-in. Evening at leisure.
Day 2 Guided coach tour to Liverpool World Heritage Site, William Brown Street and visit the Victorian Round Reading Rooms. Travel to the picturesque and unique village of Port Sunlight on the Wirral, which was built by William Hesketh Lever, as an idyllic model village for his “Sunlight Soap” workers. Free time to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery. See Hulme Hall, the very first place where Ringo Star played with The Beatles. Short drive to perhaps the finest example of Regency buildings in Hamilton Square en-route to Seacombe Ferry Terminal, where we board the famous Mersey Ferry for your river cruise. Arrive at Liverpool’s stunning waterfront with photo opportunity at the new Beatles statues at Pier Head, in front of the iconic Liver, Cunard and Port of Liverpool Buildings. Visit the Beatles Story (admission included). An exhibition devoted to the life and times of The Beatles. Afternoon at leisure – Albert Dock boasts plenty of restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops. Home to the Tate Gallery, the Maritime and International Slavery Museum, and a short walk is the Museum of Liverpool, all of which have free entry.
Day 3 Comprehensive guided panoramic coach tour exploring the Fab4’s days in Liverpool. Visit the Georgian quarter including the Universities, the Stirling Prize winning Everyman Theatre and the Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street. This area includes the birth place of John Lennon, the Beatles schools and colleges along with two cathedrals. Visit the world’s fifth largest cathedral Liverpool Anglican which was started in 1904 and finished in 1978. Visit Strawberry Field and outside John Lennon’s childhood home. Visit Penny Lane Development Centre. Drive by Sefton Park, the second largest Victorian park in Europe and past the birthplace of Ringo Star in the Dingle area of Liverpool. Arrive Liverpool One for a short walk along Matthew Street where you can see the Eleanor Rigby Statue, Cavern Wall of Fame and of course the famous Cavern Club (possible entry charge). Depart mid-afternoon. Arrive home: late evening.
